Pho On Broadway Everett, Wa

Pho on Broadway is one of the best places in the Puget Sound to get pho. The owner is a really nice guy who always recognizes all his regulars and always chats with us when we come in. He tells us he make his broth the right way by cooking the beef knuckles for 20 hours and that allows him to use almost no MSG. The result is a dark brown broth that is super flavorful. All pho has MSG in it but the shops who take short cuts use the most. They always use great cuts of beef and when the make chicken pho the use chicken broth. I have been to other pho places and I always get gross fatty bits in my soup. Yuck! There is a full menu of other vietnamese favorites. Including my favorite, salad rolls. Made with mint and basil. The shop it self is unadorned but clean.

Zippy's Java Lounge in Everett, Wa

So I had to re-review this place because I gave it a bad review on city search before when the place was on Hewitt Ave. The owner has really turned this place around and I love it!

To me Zippy's is reminiscent of the coffee houses in Portland, Or. This place is cozy, homey, and cool. They offer lunch items, breakfast items, coffee drinks, smoothies, pastries, loose leaf tea and vegetarian options. Oh and a Dalmatian (Zippy ).

Today I had Pea and Garlic soup with grilled focaccia bread with a herbal tea. I spent about $6 on every thing. The soup was made in-house and it was outstanding! Lightly spicy and slightly Thai flavored. The owner brought out the soup and tea for me. She was very sweet and chatted politely with all her customers with out being too friendly.

What I liked:

• The vintage couches to chill out on.
• The fact Zippy's composts.
• Live Music.
• Various groups who meet at Zippy's (knitting, book club, and many more).
• WiFi.
• Laid back and cozy atmosphere.
• Focus on community and Environment.
• Zippy ( the doggie who like to visit with the customers).
• Supports local artist and suppliers.
• The community feel of Zippy's.

What I would like to see:

• I would change nothing!

Skagit Valley Food Co-op

Today Our family went to the Skagit Valley Food Co-op http://skagitfoodcoop.com/ for a late lunch after getting a Christmas Tree http://www.biglaketrees.com in Mt. Vernon, Wa.  I love this store!  Some of the things I like about it is it has a full deli with a variety of pre-made foods, saled bar, soup bar, bakery items, coffee bar and much more.  There are tables inside and out for you to have a meal.  I had a bowl of Moroccan chicken  and chickpea soup, David had turkey and noodles and my son "B" had a slice of pizza bread.  All was super yummy.  After we could not help but to pick up sweets.  I got a cream cheese brownie, David got a peanut butter cookie and also we picked up 2 coffee's to go.   Both were great.  


The store it self sell about every thing a regular grocery store sells but its all local and organic.  Well most of it is.  There are a few items that are generic like foil and laundry soap.   I saw many items made in the Skagit valley, candies from Portland, Oregon, hand crafted sodas and much more.  There Health and Beauty section was soooo fun!  They had brands like Merry Hempsters, Bert's Bees, Alba and so many other natural and Organic products.  If your in the Skagit Valley Go to the co-op!!! You will love it

-The fact the also carried Western Family Generic brand.
-They support local farmers and businesses


Things that need improvement:
-Service was slightly slow
